Adventures in fibre arts
Spell checker is trying to tell me fibre is spelt wrong. Puts on posh 'British accent'. Hmph, excuse me. That is how the word is spelt, good sir, and with that, I bid you good day and will continue on my way.
I've been practicing crochet this week. I'd say I'm about ready to quit, but that would be a lie. I'm determined to work out how this magic works. Then, onto knitting needles. Maybe. The crochet hooks may defeat me yet.
I've got bracelets I want to make so I need to get at least marginally competent at a chain stitch. Not only that, but competent at a chain stitch using silk. I've got a skein of silk at the ready and I'm going to practice on some cheaper silk thread I brought first as I've now got some smaller size crochet hooks for it.
Added to that I want to find (or spin) myself some big chunky yarn. I've got a real twitch to finger knit a blanket.
Other exciting news, rather than continuing the fight with my vintage spinning wheel, my ever patient with all my hobbies partner in crime has brought me a new spinning wheel for the day that reminds me I am another year older. So the plan is to learn on and probably do most of my spinning on the Louet and become master enough to tame the old stubborn lady that is affectionately known as Elizabeth. Also she might need more maintenance that is currently beyond my ken.
So, learn to crochet, learn to spin, knit blanket, sew some linen shirts, pillow cases and some light sheets for summer. My project list is as long as my arm. Oh, also making bracelets. Training the dogs (ever ongoing). Growing more kale cuttings and learning to make a mod for Stardew Valley. Ummm yeah, I'll be able to find time...
