Wintertea Waffle

Babies!

No pictures as of yet, but I am well chuffed.

I bought some Neolamprologus multifasciatus (small Tanganyika shelldwelling cichlids) for my birthday, mainly as I wanted some small fish that could live in my stupidly hard tap water and also I like them.

Anyway, I seem to be getting something right as they were delivered on the 3rd of June and I spotted my first fry today. I really did not expect them to start breeding so soon.

Luckily I've already got a culture of green water and one of moina on the go so they are okay for food. I'm also grinding up cichlid food into a fine dust to add some variety. Their parents are mostly live food purists so maybe if I can convince the young to be less picky haha.

I was honestly under the impression I'd probably only see fry when the tank had matured more (it is cycled but had only freshly cycled). My houseplants growing out of the tank (spider plants, tradescantia of numerous types and maranta and calathea with a healthy dose of creeping jenny) are taking off too. I desperately need more aquarium plant holders so start giving the plants a bit more room.
