Half a Century Morning Thoughts

I wake up most nights these days with my brain in a tizzy that there are less days ahead than there are behind, but during my waking hours I like refer to my age in more dramatic terms in the attempt of soothing the sleepy lizard brain and because I will insist we take a positive view of the whole affair.

I have been walking this earth for half a century now.

Rather than; Yeah, I turned 50 last year. (I love semi-colons. No I have never mastered their use but will throw them about anyway because they are such a pretty, underused part of punctuation)

Luckily, I never talk to people in the real world so they are not subject to the cringe inducing level of wftcanyoubenormalforfiveseconds that I have sunk to in an attempt to cope with the fact I've been around this long.

However. I also really love being older. I don't think I've ever felt more grounded and secure in myself as a person than I have since I hit about 48. Everything before that was just flailing around in brain stew. Not to say every problem magically disappears, but the sense of stability in my own brain has been wonderful.

The perfect time to take up new hobbies.
